When I was a kid I watched my father taking pictures with his 35mm camera. I wanted to copy my Dad. So in 2nd or 3rd grade, we had the usual fundraiser for the school and one of the prizes was a cheap little 110 camera. That was my dream camera! I hated selling things to people, but I REALLY wanted the camera. So I went and sold exactly what I needed to get that camera. I loved that little camera. Thankfully my parents agreed to pay for the developing of all my pictures. I took as many pictures as I could of my family and dog.
Fast forward several years and I had continued getting point and shoot cameras. I loved taking pictures. Then after I became a nurse, I decided I wanted to learn to take pictures with a 35mm camera like my Father had done. So I got my first Canon 35mm film camera. I called up a friend of mine and asked if I could take pictures of her daughter. I found out she loved taking pictures as much as I did. She encouraged me to take a B&W photography course at the local community college. At this point I was only interested in taking photos, not the developing. But my teacher in the class was amazing! She pushed us to learn to take high quality photos. I also found out that I loved developing B&W photos.
So here I am today, a travel nurse in Seattle. I am very thankful to have a job that gives me time to enjoy my love of photography. I have upgraded to a digital Canon camera. I decided to follow my heart and what I love doing most, taking pictures and traveling.
